Rial's working, stretched out on the couch and staring at a datapad. Totally not actually comprending anything.

He wonders briefly where Plourr is, and whether or not he can convince her that they should have another holiday.

"Still have two days, Rial," she reminds him softly.

"I know."

And he does.

"We'll make them last, hmm? And then you can go have your fun."

[fighting_mad]

They're her friends and it's what she loves, it is, but--

She says quietly, "I'll just be waiting til I can come home."

Home. It's a strange word; one that she hasn't used much in her lifetime, if ever. But this is. He is.

Rial smiles quietly.

"Okay. Don't forget to have a little fun, though."

[fighting_mad]

She smiles into his shoulder, resting her hand on his chest. "I won't."

[eiattu_pride]

"Good."

He's petting her absently, like she's a dog.

[fighting_mad]

She notices.

She punches him in the arm. "Stop that."

[eiattu_pride]

"What?"

He's honestly surprised.

[fighting_mad]

"I'm not a pet whisperkit."

[eiattu_pride]

"Never said you were."

He continues petting.

"Although it might be fun to have one."

[fighting_mad]

She snorts and bats at his hand. "They make me sneeze."

[eiattu_pride]

"Should be glad that you're not one of them, then."

He scratches behind her ear.

[fighting_mad]

"Rial, I'm going to smack you."

[eiattu_pride]

"If you say so, my princess."

[fighting_mad]

But she just laughs instead and kisses his throat.

Rial laughs as well, ceasing his petting to hold her tightly.

"I love you so much. You know that, right?"

[fighting_mad]

Her lips still.

"I know."

She curls her arms around his neck.

"Just don't do that petting thing. It's creepy, husband."

He laughs, now, and holds her.

"I promise."

[fighting_mad]

"Good."



"You know," she says, at length. "I can't be the princess forever."

[eiattu_pride]

"Well, that won't be for a while."

He's very determined to not think about it.

[fighting_mad]

"I mean, eventually, there has to be someone officially on the throne, rather than being the heir to it."

[eiattu_pride]

"Yeah..."

He's got his eyes fixed on the ceiling.

[fighting_mad]

"And when the time comes, it would be pretty spaced for the empress's husband to be only a count, don't you think?" She's starting to smile a little into his shoulder.

[eiattu_pride]

"Um. No?"

Ahhhhhh.

[fighting_mad]

"Shut up, I'm asking if you'll take the throne with me."
